An encoding/decoding section 112, a picture processing section 106, and a picture outputting section 108 perform picture formation in accordance with code data received by means of a communication control section 114. A color paper supplying section 110 supplies a recording form suitable for color recording to the picture outputting section 108 and a black-and-white form supplying section 111 supplies ordinary paper for black-and-white recording to the picture outputting sections 108. A CPU 101 selects the color form supplying section 110 or black-and-white form supplying section 111 depending upon the code data received by means of the communication control section 114, whether the data are of a color picture or black-and-white picture, and the picture outputting 108 makes picture formation on the recording paper supplied from the selected form supplying section.
