To provide an evacuation glass tube, a plasma display panel, a plasma display device and production methods thereof capable of preventing development of cracks in a large diameter portion and preventing a low-melting sealing glass from protruding from a space between the large diameter portion and a substrate.
To produce the plasma display panel 50, the evacuation glass tube 1 is sealed to the periphery of an evacuation hole 105 formed in the substrate 102 of the panel 50 so as to evacuate the inside of the panel 50 through the evacuation hole 105. The glass tube 1 comprises a tubular main body 2 and the large diameter portion 3 formed at an end of the main body 2. The large diameter portion 3 comprises a sealing surface 4 sealed to the periphery of the evacuation hole 105, and a back surface. The back surface is formed to be a nearly flat surface 5 that is nearly parallel to the plane of the substrate 102 when the glass tube 1 is positioned with respect to the substrate 102 for the purpose of sealing. At least part of the sealing surface 4 is inclined such that a distance from the plane of the substrate 102 increases with decreasing distance from the center of the sealing surface 4 when the glass tube 1 is positioned as above.
