Title:
PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND PHOSPHOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3442973
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the intensity of a plasma display panel, suppress the occurrence of an afterimage, increase quantum efficiency, and shorten the luminous life time by setting the ratios between the average grain size and the long diameter and short diameter of phosphor grains to specific values respectively.
SOLUTION: Phosphor grains to be used are a true sphere or a transparent body approximate to it and have the average grain size of 0.1-5μm, preferably 0.5-1μm, and the ratio between the long diameter and short diameter of 1-1.5. The dispersibility of the grains in a paste is improved, cavities in a phosphor layer and irregularities on the surface are reduced, packing density is increased, the irregular reflection of the luminescence from phosphors is prevented, the discharge space is expanded, and intensity is improved. The fine resonator effect is indicated by the average grain size, and the quantum efficiency of the phosphors is improved. The difference in thickness of the phosphor layer at the position of 20μm from the upper end of a bulkhead and at the center position of an address electrode is set to 25% or below, and ultraviolet rays are uniformly irradiated.
