PURPOSE: To detect directly the pointer position of a measuring device by disposing a flat electrode on a surface where some part of a pointer sweepes and providing a circuit which flows independently an electric current from its both ends and measures it.
CONSTITUTION: The pointers 14 and 15 lie at some part of a circumference as shown by arrows, come contact with the flat electrodes 12 and 13, and are grounded electrically. The positions of the pointers 14 and 15 are expressed in a ratio, which is assumed to be χ from the right side. By the position χa resistance value is divided, and total resistance value RL=Ra+Rb, where the ratio at the right side and that at the left side are Ra and Rb, respectively. Separate wiring resistances RK are passed at both ends of the flat electrodes 12 and 13 each and jointed to a supply voltage VP through a detection resistance RM. Assuming that the measured voltage at the right and that at the left of the detection resistance RM are assumed to be Vb and Va, respectively, an expression χ=RMVp/2RL.{1/(Vp-Va)-1/(Vp-Vb)} can be established. The RM, the RL and the Vp are constant, and the position χ can be detected by measuring the Va and the Vb. At this time, the wiring resistance RK can be canceled to be negligible.
