Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform proper HCCI combustion which is suppressed in a generation amount of soot and combustion noise in a wide load range, in a homogeneous charge compression ignition type engine.SOLUTION: When an engine is operated in a first operation region in which a load is not smaller than a prescribed value, water is injected from a water injection valve 57 at timing at which the water is unevenly distributed to an external peripheral part of a combustion chamber 10 before fuel is self-ignited after a finish of fuel injection by a fuel injection valve 11. When the engine is operated in a second region in which the load is smaller than that in the first operation region, fuel is injected in a latter half of a compression stroke, and the fuel injection valve 11 and the water injection valve 57 are controlled so that the water is injected within a period in which combustion by self-ignition is finished after the fuel injection is finished.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
