PURPOSE: To enable a consecutive molding of an extrusion profiles having excellent characteristics by rapidly compacting and extruding a material comprising a thermoplastic polymer and forcing the material through an aperture in die means so as to extrude it therethrough, the extrusion being made at below the melting point of the material.
CONSTITUTION: As a wheel 11 rotates, a material 18 in a groove 13 is carried forward by a frictional drag of walls of the groove 13 and forced against an abutment portion 15. Pressure is thus generated in the material 18 so that it is rapidly compacted and forced through an orifice 16. This causes rapid heating of the material 18 and longitudinal orientation in the orifice 16. The heat sink provided by a shoe member 14 cools the material 18 almost immediately as the material 18 passes through the orifice 16 to an extent such as to substantially retain the desired longitudinal orientation in the extruded material 18.
