Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an industrial method for producing 5-aminotetrazole or its metallic salt useful as a gas generating agent or an intermediate raw material for medicines and agrochemical materials.
CONSTITUTION: The method for producing 5-aminotetrazole is to react cyanamide with hydrazine in a solvent, thereby produce an aminoguanidine salt solution, then add an acid and a nitrite to the resultant solution, produce a diazoguanidine salt in the system and further cyclize the produced salt. Thereby, the 5-aminotetrazole is safely produced in high yield at a low cost without isolating an intermediate. The resultant 5-aminotetrazole or its metallic salt is further spray-dried and granulated.
