Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a process capable of easily producing, in high yield and purity, a β-hydroxypropionic acid ester which has been difficult to produce.

CONSTITUTION: A β-hydroxypropionic acid ester is produced by reacting (A) a β-acyloxypropionic acid or its ester or an acrylic acid oligomer or its ester with (B) an alcohol in the presence of a transesterification catalyst.
