Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the electrophoresis display panel by laminating a film having a sea and island structure on one substrate, allowing only the island parts to remain as spacers and disposing another substrate opposite to the above- mentioned substrate. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene beads 3 are sufficiently dispersed into an aq. polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) soln. 11 and a PVA film 14 having the sea and island structure is formed on a 'Teflon(R)' plate 13 by using a 'Teflon(R)' frame 12. The film 14 is then pressurized and heated to cure in such a manner that the beads 3 come into contact with the transparent substrate 1 coated with the adhesive 10. The substrate is immersed in water to dissolve away the PVA and the substrate with the spacers is obtd. The adhesive 10 is applied on a polyethylene terephthalate film 4 and the film is laminated on the substrate with the spacers. An electrophoresis dispersion system is injected into the cell and the cell is hermetically sealed to perfect the display panel. The spacer formation is facilitated according to this constitution.
