Abstract:
To provide a production method of a 1,2-ethanediol derivative which is useful as a raw material of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, liquid crystals and polymers.
The production method of the 1,2-ethanediol derivative has a step of reducing an -hydroxy acid derivative or -hydroxy acid ester derivative, a step of adding an organic solvent to the reduced material to extract the 1,2-ethanediol derivative, and a step of washing the extracted liquid with water to decrease a content of impure metal in the 1,2-ethanediol derivative.
