To produce a polyorganosiloxane which may be alkoxylated by nonhydrolytically condensing the alkoxysilyl units of a silane with its halogenosilyl units in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst.
A process for producing a polyorganosiloxane which may be alkoxylated, comprising performing the nonhydrolytic condensation (≡Si-O-Si≡ bonds and a coproduct XR (wherein X is a halogeno) are essentially formed) of at least alkoxysilyl units (Mo1) and halogenosilyl units (Mo2) of one silane (homo-condensation) or of different silanes (heterocondensation) in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst. The nonhydrolytic condensation is controlled so that the objective polyorgano-siloxane may comprise siloxy units D, T and/or Q and optionally M, that the catalyst may be a compound of a metal belonging to the groups IIIB, IVB or VB in the periodic table, that the condensation may be performed exclusively between unit Mo1 and unit Mo2, and the formation of by-products may be minimized.
