To execute digital zooming in a projection apparatus without requiring time and efforts for operation.
A projection system comprises a projection apparatus 1 and a remote controller 30. The remote controller 30 includes a plurality of region designation keys 32 which are arrayed in a lattice shape and operated for region designation, a switching instruction key 31 which switches a first mode and a second mode, and a light-transmitting section 33 which transmits an instruction signal in response to input to the projection apparatus 1. The projection apparatus 1 includes projection systems (11-19) each for projecting an image, a light-receiving section 24 which receives the instruction signal, and a CPU 20 which switches between the first mode where an image to be projected is projected with no magnification with respect to a projection target and a second mode where the image to be projected is projected while being magnified partially, manages the image to be projected while dividing it into a plurality of regions correspondingly to the array of the region designation keys 32, designates one of the plurality of regions and projects an image in the designated region while magnifying the image.
