In an information display device 2, a designating information output means 22 transmits information for designating the contents 12a to be displayed through a network 3. In an information providing device 1, a data output means 13 selects the contents 12a on the basis of this designating information, selects prescribed advertisement information 12b and transmits them through the network 3. In the device 2, a data display means 23 displays the received contents 12a, and the received information 12b is stored temporarily into an advertisement information storage means 24 under control by a display control means 25. When detecting the designating operation of the contents 12a to be subsequently displayed or the display finishing operation of the contents 12a, the stored information 12b is read and displayed on a data display means 23.
