Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition capable of rapidly molding not only a water hose for a car excellent in low temperature flexibility and more reduced in high temperature compression permanent strain without damaging the original excellent thermal aging resistance, wheatherability or the like of EPDM but also a gasket for a building material excellent in silicone sealant antistaining properties, blooming resistance and low temperature flexibility and more reduced in high temperature compression permanent strain. SOLUTION: This rubber composition for automotive hoses and building material gaskets comprises (A) an ethylene-propylene-7-methyl-1,6-octadiene random copolymer rubber produced by using a specific group-IVB transition metal catalyst, (B) a vulcanizing agent, and (C) a filler. The random copolymer rubber has a molar ratio of ethylene to propylene, an iodine value, an intrinsic viscosity, a strength ratio D, a B value, and a glass transition point, each in a specified range.
