Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a single-needle method in place of a continuous two-needle method for a donor, particularly when stabbing conditions are not good.
CONSTITUTION: In a blood separation device comprising a blood collecting bag 40, which is put in a centrifuge 20 wherein separation is carried out using a cannula 12 and a pump 18 located in a back flow line 16, and which can be put in a return line 42 by emptying it by help of a pressure clasp 30, the flow resistance RO of the return line 42 can be designed to become about half the remaining flow resistance of a return system. In a recirculation phase, the blood pump 18 is operated at a predetermined recirculation flow rate FR, whereby a predetermined needle flow rate FN is necessarily established. Thus by using recirculation, the amount of anticoagulant returning to the patient per unit time can be reduced, and the effectiveness of separation can be increased.
