To provide a sound source setting device that sets a sound source to generate musical sounds of timbres set for a plurality of parts with a pitch specified in received note-ON information as a previous stage for generating only musical sounds of some desired timbres through easy operation when the specified pitch is included in a sounding key range set to each of the plurality of parts.
A flowchart shown in Fig. 2(b) is started when a performance expansion indication is detected and when a performance play mode is selected; reception channels are set to the respective parts in S32 so that a plurality of reception channel numbers which are mutually different are set on the whole sound source. In S33, any of the respective timbres (respective parts) to which sounding key ranges of musical sounds are individually set according to a performance selecting operation shown in Fig. 2(a) have a sounding key range set to a total key range.
