Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve charging and discharging cycle life by fitting, on respective electrodes, a square electrode body, the first collector tab attached on the top of the electrode body, and the second collector tab attached on the bottom of the electrode body.
SOLUTION: A negative electrode 14 consists of a negative electrode body 2 and two collector tabs 1. The two collector tabs 1 are attached diagonally at the top and bottom of the negative electrode body 2, that is, the tab 1 is attached on the upper left and lower right sides of the body 2 respectively. A positive electrode consists of two collector tabs in the same way as the negative electrode. A storage battery to which two collector tabs are attached diagonally on the electrode has the highest operating voltage. This is because polarization becomes larger when the collector tab is attached on the upper left side of the electrode, however, polarization is minimum as the whole electrode because another collector tab is attached on the lower right side. Resistance decreases, heat generation is suppressed during charging, and the negative electrode is suppressed from being corroded, thus it is possible to improve charging efficiency at the negative electrode.
