PURPOSE: A stored culture medium for microorganisms, consisting of a freeze- dried nutrient culture medium for bacteria containing gelatin, and capable of storing the microorganisms stably for a long term simply by diluting the culture medium with sterile water, adding the microorganisms thereto, and storing the culture medium at a low temperature.

CONSTITUTION: A stored culture medium, prepared by dissolving 3W10%, preferably 6W8%, based on the culture medium in a reconstituted state by adding sterile water thereto, gelatin in the culture medium, about 0.05W5%, based on the culture medium in the reconstituted state, carbon powder and culture medium components consisting of other usual culture medium components in the culture medium in a given concentration, sterilizing the culture medium, dispensing the resultant sterilized culture medium to cultivation vessels, e.g. test tubes in a given amount respectively, freeze-drying the dispensed culture medium, and storing the freeze-dried culture medium preferably at a low temperature.
