Title:
SUPPORTING SKIRT STRUCTURE FOR LNG SHIP MOS SPHERICAL TANK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3495500
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease stress on a tank, when thermally shrunk, without strongly constraining the deformation of a skirt to the radial direction by providing horizontal girders only as antiflexible materials for the supporting skirt to support the MOS spherical tank on the hull of a LNG ship.
SOLUTION: In a supporting skirt structure for a MOS spherical tank 1 in a LNG ship, a skirt 4 is provided, which has the upper edge welded and jointed to the joint 13 on the outer periphery of the tank 1 to encircle the outer periphery of the lower half of the tank 1. As antiflexible materials for the skirt 4, one horizontal girder 5 welded to the outer surface of a skirt middle structure S2 and three horizontal girders 6 welded to the inner surface of a skirt lower structure S3 are provided to reinforce the skirt 4. When the tank is thirmally shrunk, the horizontal girders 5, 6, where the deformation of the skirt 4 to the radial direction is not strongly constrained, have the joints 13 prevented from burst.
