Abstract:
Disclosed is a thickener/binder for secondary battery electrodes which is excellent in dispersion stability, binding property (adhesion) to a metal collector and capacity retention. The thickener/binder for secondary battery electrodes is obtained by emulsion-polymerizing a monomer component which is composed of (a) 30-85 weight% of an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer, (b) 15-60 weight% of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and (c) 0-55 weight% of another monomer which is copolymerizable with the monomers (a) and (b) [wherein (a) + (b) + (c) = 100 weight%]. Also disclosed is a secondary battery electrode using such a thickener/binder.
