Title:
OPTICAL FIBER BUNDLE FOR LIGHTING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04104104
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent an optical fiber from breaking as far as possible and to suppress a rise in the temperature at an incidence end part by charging a specific fixing agent which has high heat conductivity in the gap of the optical fiber bundle at the incidence end part. CONSTITUTION:A material which has a fusion point lower than temperature where optical fibers 1 deform thermally and high heat conductivity exceeding 0.01cal/cm.s.deg is charged as the fixing agent 2 in the mutual gap of the respective optical fibers forming the optical fiber bundle 1 at the incidence end part where the bundle is connected to a light source device 9, and the fixing agent 2 is solidified to fix the respective optical fibers in one body. Consequently, the optical fiber bundle excellently conducts heat generated with irradiation light from a light source to a connecting external cylinder, etc., through the fixing agent 2 and the heat is radiated. The optical fibers are therefore hard to thermally deform and break, and the optical fiber bundle transmits incident light efficiently without decreasing in light transmissivity.
