PURPOSE: To improve recording and reproducing characteristics by supporting a magnetic head with a spring which charges the magnetic head to separate the magnetic head from the surface of a magnetic disc medium and providing plural air nozzles which charge the magnetic head to approximate the magnetic head to the surface of the magnetic disc medium.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic head 1 is supported by a head arm 3 through a supporting spring 2, and this supporting spring 2 charges the magnetic head 1 in the direction where the magnetic head 1 is separated from a surface 7 of the magnetic disc medium. Air nozzles 5-1W5-5 are arranged to face the center and four corners of the magnetic head, and they charge the magnetic head 1 in the direction, where the magnetic disc 1 is approximated to the surface 7 of the magnetic disc medium, by jetting of air. By this constitution, air is not jetted when the magnetic disc is stopped, and the floating quantity of the magnetic head is controlled optionally in case of recording and reproducing. Thus, recording and reproducing characteristics are improved.
