Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a two-stage freezer/refrigerator in which variation of load in the freezer compartment and the refrigeration compartment can be dealt with, temperature in the compartment can be made uniform, and defrosting method of an evaporator is established while reducing power consumption.
SOLUTION: The two-stage freezer/refrigerator comprises a first on/off valve 29, a second on/off valve 30, a third on/off valve 31, a fourth on/off valve 32, a fifth on/off valve 33, a first bypath 35 interconnecting the delivery side of a low stage compression element 22 and the delivery side of a high stage compression element 23, a sixth on/off valve 36, a second bypath 37 interconnecting the suction side of the low stage compression element 22 and the section side of the high stage compression element 23, and a seventh on/off valve 38. Each compartment can be cooled correctly or cooled quickly depending on the variation of load in the freezer compartment and the refrigeration compartment by controlling opening/closing of these valves and bypaths. Furthermore, cooling of any one of the freezer compartment or the refrigeration compartment can be stopped at the time of defrosting a cooler and the cooler can be defrosted without relying on an external heating means.
