PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability via the proper rotation control of an ultrasonic vibrator and shorten the diagnostic time.
SOLUTION: When either one of a 45° step forward switch SW3 and a 45° step reverse switch SW4 of an ultrasonic vibrator is depressed, a rotary drive motor 22 is controlled by a motor control circuit 23 so that the scanning region of an ultrasonic vibrator section 11 is rotated from the present rotational position to the basic cross-sectional position directly nearby based on the angular signal outputted from an angular signal processing circuit 24. If the SW 3 is depressed when the present rotational position of the scanning region of the ultrasonic vibrator section 11 exists on the angle of 45°, for example, the scanning region is rotatively driven to the basic cross-sectional position directly nearby, i.e., the position of 90° in this case.
