Abstract:
PURPOSE: To facilitate the switchover from the vacuum cleaning of floors to that of the others, and vice versa, by selectively enabling the fluid connection of a nozzle housing on a chassis containing a rotary agitator with a dust catching member, and conducting the said switching by changing the pivotal position of an operating handle. CONSTITUTION: In the case of vacuuming anything other than floors with an attached hose for suction 26, the operating handle 22 is brought back to the upright position, and a cam actuator 50 is associated with a actuator lift cam member 142 on an axle support member, whereby a chassis 34 as a whole goes up around the axle of a caster on the rear wheel side, and moves upward from a floor or carpet. And then, by the sliding operation of an adjusting knob 16, a sliding door member 120 is slide to the closing position; the cam surface is brought into contact with an outer side wall and a door part 122 is kept at the closing position against a torsion spring. A result is that a main chamber inside the nozzle housing 58 is shut off from an intake air generator 38, and all the intake air is designed to be brought into the attached hose for suction 26.
