Abstract:

To provide a welding member with which a quartz face plate and a metal are easily bonded, a cap with a window in which the quartz face plate is bonded to a window of a metal shell with the welding member, and a light transmissive window member formed by bonding the quartz face plate and a metal member with the welding member.

A cap 1 has a metal shell 11 and a transparent quartz face plate 12 bonded to a specified position of the shell with a welding member 20 in air-tight manner. The metal shell 11 comprises a cylindrical part 13, a top plate 14 in which a window hole 15 for light transmission is formed, and a flange 16. The quartz face plate 12 is bonded to the top plate 14 with the welding member 20 in an air-tight manner so as to close the window hole 15. The welding member 20 contains a silicon dioxide (SiO2), a diboron trioxide (B2O3), and at least one of an alkali metal oxide and an alkaline earth metal oxide. By setting a linear expansion coefficient of the welding member 20 an intermediate value of the linear expansion coefficients of the metal shell 11 and the quartz face plate 12, highly air-tight bonding between the metal shell 11 and the quartz face plate 12 is obtained.
