Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yeast having an excellent ability to produce ethanol from xylose which can be used for production of ethanol from xylose in combination with the conversion to xylulose from xylose by xylose isomerase.SOLUTION: A transgenic yeast is provided in which four genes of RKI1 gene (a gene encoding ribose-5-phosphate isomerase), RPE1 gene (a gene encoding ribulosephosphate 3 isomerase), TAL2 gene (a gene encoding transaldolase) and TKL2 gene (a gene encoding a transketolase), are simultaneously overexpressed.
