Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance flatness and reduce surface smoothness of particles and enhance high rate performance of a battery by including specific rate of Bi, In, and Mg in addition to unavoidable impurities of Pb, Cd, and Cu.
SOLUTION: The content of Mg increasing the evolution of hydrogen gas is limited to 0.0005-3 wt.%, and Bi and In retarding the evolution of hydrogen gas are contained 0.01-0.1 wt.%. Tap density being varied by addition of Bi and Mg is preferable to be made in 2.9-3.3/cm3, and for this purpose, zinc alloy melting temperature in atomizing process is set to 430-530°C, and 0.001-0.1 wt.% Pb and 0.0001-0.1 wt.% at least one of Al, Ca, and Sn are preferably contained. Zinc alloy powder with low surface smoothness and a flat shape increases contact between particles, decreases resistance in discharge of a battery when used in an electrode active material, and increases relative factor in 1500 mA discharge duration time. If tap density is too low, low rate discharge performance is decreased, and a flowing property of the alloy powder is made low.
