Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To combine blur suppression and smoothness at the edges of a character, a line drawing, etc. within an image, when a multi-gradation image is to be subjected to resolution increase.SOLUTION: An attribute resolution converter 34, when increasing the resolution of image data representing the gradation value of the original image of a first resolution on a pixel-to-pixel basis to a second resolution, increases the resolution of attribute data to the second resolution. An image resolution converter 35, in accordance with the attribute value of a pixel of the second resolution, selects a pixel of the first resolution located in the periphery of the pixel of the second resolution, and determines the gradation value of the pixel of the second resolution, from the gradation value of the selected pixel of the first resolution.
