Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a battery management apparatus and a battery management method, wherein an optimal upper limit C-rate corresponding to a battery cell is determined to prevent lithium plating from occurring in the battery cell. In particular, according to one aspect of the present invention, charging and discharging of the battery cell can be controlled according to the determined upper limit C-rate, and thus the occurrence of side reactions in the battery cell due to charging and discharging at a high C-rate can be prevented. Also, the deterioration of the battery cell proceeds slowly, and thus the lifespan of the battery cell can increase.
