Abstract:
A communication system is provided with a communication apparatus that stores meter data, a portable terminal apparatus (handy terminal), and a portable signal converter. The communication apparatus selects, from among a plurality of communication channels, a specific communication channel for communicating with the signal converter. The signal converter performs signal conversion between the communication apparatus and the terminal apparatus. In the signal converter, a first communication unit communicates with the terminal apparatus using a first communication protocol. A second communication unit communicates with the communication apparatus using a second communication protocol that is different from the first communication protocol. A search unit (channel setting unit) searches for the specific communication channel by sequentially switching the communication channels.
