An automatic apparatus for preliminarily separating picture tubes and cases from television sets in a scrapping system. Since no manual handling is required, this apparatus exhibits a stable processing capacity and ensures safety of laborers by remote monitor. An image display (13) is laid with the CRT (13a) upward and its cutting position and size are calculated from the data obtained from a camera (20). The neck of the CRT is cut with a saw (30f) so as to bring its inside to the atmospheric pressure. Next, when the four sides of the CRT are cut, the entire front surface is fixed on a suction pad of a running attraction device (14) and the case is fixedly nailed at both sides with sharp spit-like clamp portions (11d and 12d) equipped with a rotary driving device. The CRT, separated from the set and suspended with its entire surface held on the attraction device, is automatically transferred to the next stage to recycle the glass of picture tubes.
