Embodiments of the present application relate to the technical field of display, and provide a display device and a manufacturing method therefor for making a cover plate have good impact resistance, scratch resistance and bending performance, and effectively improving the reliability of a display device. The display device comprises: an array substrate, the array substrate comprising a base and an array layer located at one side of the base; and a cover plate, the cover plate being located at the side of the array layer facing away from the base, the cover plate comprising a first film layer and a second film layer, and the first film layer being located at the side of the second film layer facing away from the base, wherein the first film layer is made of a high-modulus material, the elastic modulus of the high-modulus material is E1, 50 Mpa≤E1≤5 Gpa, and the second film layer is made of a modified energy-absorbing impact resistant material having viscosity and shear thickening properties.
