Abstract:
Provided is a display device capable of achieving thinning. This display device is provided with: a first substrate; a second substrate that is opposite to the first substrate; a liquid crystal layer that is disposed between the first and second substrates; and a light source for irradiating the liquid crystal layer with light, wherein the first substrate has a first part which has a first thickness and which is opposite to the second substrate and a second part which has a second thickness thinner than the first thickness and which is not opposite to the second substrate, and the light source is disposed in the second part.
