Abstract:

Provided is an additive which improves the cycle characteristics of a lithium ion secondary battery. A lithium ion secondary battery wherein a copolymer having a repeating unit represented by formula (1) and a repeating unit represented by formula (2) is formed on the surfaces of the positive electrode and the negative electrode. (In formula (1), Z1 represents an organic group wherein a polymerizable functional group is polymerized; X represents a hydrocarbon group having 1-20 (inclusive) carbon atoms or an oxyalkylene group; X may be present or absent, and in cases where X is absent, Z1 is directly bonded to A; and A contains an aromatic functional group and the copolymer is electropolymerized at a potential of not more than the operating potential of the positive electrode based on lithium metal due to the aromatic functional group of A. In formula (2), Z2 represents an organic group wherein a polymerizable functional group is polymerized; and Y represents a high-polarity functional group having high polarity.)
