Abstract:
The present invention pertains to an imaging element and an electronic device, whereby a better pixel signal can be obtained. The present invention comprises: a photoelectric conversion unit that converts received light into an electric charge; and a holding unit that holds electric charge transferred from the photoelectric conversion unit. The photoelectric conversion unit and the holding unit are formed inside a semiconductor substrate having a prescribed thickness. The holding unit is formed having a thickness of no more than half the prescribed thickness. An electric charge capturing area that captures electric charge is also provided, further on the light incident side than the area where the holding unit is formed. A light-blocking unit that blocks light is also formed between the photoelectric conversion unit and the electric charge capturing area. This technology can be applied to an imaging element.
