Abstract:
This technique relates to a reception apparatus, a reception method, a transmission apparatus, a transmission method and a program that allow the broadcast waves of digital broadcasts to be used for transmitting various data. A table acquiring/analyzing unit acquires the module ID of a module used for transmitting application control information, which is described in additional data descriptor different from data encoding system descriptor, to a data elementary stream description area of PMT. A carousel processing unit acquires the application control information from the module determined by the module ID. An application control unit controls, in accordance with the application control information, the operation of a ganged application delivered via the Internet. This technique can be applied, for example, to a television receiver that receives the broadcast waves of digital broadcasts.
