Abstract:
To provide an organic electroluminescent device capable of forming the surface of a hole transport layer 70 almost flat even if it is formed by a liquid phase process, and also achieving the uniform thickness of a light emitting layer 60.
The organic electroluminescent device has the hole transport layer 70 formed above a pixel electrode 23 in a pixel region 26 by using a liquid phase process. The pixel electrode 23 has a recessed part 28 formed at the periphery of the pixel region 26 so that the surface of the pixel electrode 23 at the periphery of the pixel region 26 is located lower than the surface of the pixel electrode 23 in the center of the pixel region 26.
