Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS4937030
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
1,227,997. Dispersions of pigments and biocides. R. T. VANDERBILT CO. Inc. 3 April, 1968 [4 April, 1967; 24 March, 1968], No. 16051/68. Heading B1V. [Also in Division A5] Aqueous dispersions of insoluble solids comprising functional solids such as pigments or biocides, optionally containing up to 50% inert diluent, are made using the dry particulate solid having on at least part of the surface of the particles at least one dispersing agent selected from alkali metal salts of naphthalene sulfonic acid-formaldehyde condensates and alkali metal or alkaline earth metal lignosulfonates, in amount 0.5% to 5% based on total solid, and a wetting agent of classes I/G 1 , I/K, I/P and III/C in amount 0.05% to 2% based on total solid, and prepared by drying a slurry containing the solids, the dispersing agent and the wetting agent. The wetting agents are generally alkali metal salts of condensation products of fatty acid chloride and aminosulfonic acid; alkali metal salts of fatty alkyl and alkenyl sulfonates and sulfates; ethoxylated C 8 to C 10 alkyl phenols; alkali metal salts of the sulfonated derivatives of the latter. The solids may have particle size less than 20 microns; when spray-dried agglomerate size may be 1.5 to 200 microns. The inert diluent may be kaolin, calcium silicate, silica.
