Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make a suspension means light in weight and low in cost by forming one end of a pipe main body formed out of pipe shaped material into a mounting section in a flat shape, and installing a ball joint onto the aforesaid mounting section.
CONSTITUTION: As for a connecting rod 1, a circular pipe 2 is bent so as to be curved into a specified shape, one end of the circular pipe 2 is squeezed and formed into a column section 3 thereafter, the middle portion of the circular pipe 2 is deformed into a flat shape so as to be formed into a junction face 4, and the tip end of the circular pipe 2 is pressed into a flat shape so as to be formed into a platy mounting section 5. Besides, the outer peripheral section 5a of the mounting section 5 is bent over so as to be a reinforcing flange. And the base end section of a bracket 7 equipped with a bush pipe 6 at its tip end is welded to the junction face 4, meanwhile, a through hole 5b is bored vertically to a plate face in the mounting section 5 so as to allow a ball joint 8 to be fitted therein. Therefore, since a section modulus about a specified spindle at a portion made flat is increased by that much, its structure is preferable from the view point of strength, weight saving can thereby be materialized as compared with a former case where a solid material has been used.
