To obtain an easily washable antifogging article which not only is excellent in easy washability and antifogging effect but also keeps these properties for a long term, and does not deteriorate in design properties because of not affected appearance by providing a hydrophilic surface on which a silver- containing substance is deposited in a manner in which the substance can be exposed to air.
This article is one 1 in which a large proportion of a silver- containing substance 2 exists on the surface 3 or near, almost no substance 2 exists on the center, and a fused film of the binder component and the substance 2 does not substantially exist on the surface 3. Desirably, the content of the substance 2 on the surface of the article 1 is 0.1-105 ppm. The substance 2 is suitably one free from any component that is left on the surface of an article after diffusion or penetration and is desirably an inorganic acid silver such a silver, a silver alloy, or silver oxide or an organic acid silver such as silver citrate or silver lactate from the viewpoint of the easiness of diffusion or penetration from the surface into the inside, safety, freeness of influence on the surface properties of an article, etc.
