Abstract:

To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust, capable of suitably maintaining its stable oxygen storage capacity from an early stage of using it.

The catalyst for cleaning exhaust including a catalyst layer that contains a complex oxide composed of lanthanoid at an atomic ratio of at least 40%, is characterized in that the complex oxide has an oxygen storage rate of 0.55 to 0.75 wt.%. The catalyst for cleaning exhaust can suitably maintain its stable oxygen storage capacity from an early stage of its use. Hence, carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) contained in exhaust discharged from an automobile engine or the like can efficiently be removed by the catalyst for cleaning exhaust, from an early stage of its use.
