Abstract:
PURPOSE:To safely perform oxidative decomposition by forming a part of fine particles from a hydrophilic part and a hydrophobic part. CONSTITUTION:A granular reaction body 1 is constituted so that a reaction part 4 wherein hydrophilic parts 2 and hydrophobic parts 3 are dispersed is surrounded by a gas diffusion layer 5. Formaldehyde or formic acid comes into contact with the reaction body 1 and passes through the gas diffusion layer 5 to be adsorbed by a part where the electrolyte and catalyst of the hydrophilic part 2 coexist. When oxygen is adsorbed in the same way by the other hydrophilic part 2 or the other part of the same hydrophilic part 2, a local cell is formed. CO2 generated by oxidative decomposition is diffused to the outside through the gas diffusion layer 5. By this method, harmful substances can be safely and efficiently removed.
