Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably keep highly accurate image density characteristics over a long period of time.
SOLUTION: By reading the image on a recording material having a predetermined image recorded thereon by an image processor, automatic gradation correction controlling the laser output to an image signal is executed so that the gradation of an image signal coincides with that of the image recorded on the recording material (S271). Immediately thereafter, a patch is formed on a photosensitive drum by the laser output controlled in a first control process and the density value thereof is stored as a reference density value (S274). Thereafter, the density value of the patch formed on the photosensitive drum is detected in predetermined timing (S277) and a correcting LUT controlling the laser output to the image signal is formed so that the detected density value coincides with the reference density value (S278).
