PURPOSE: To fold a separator securely in a predetermined size for even large pole plates by combining a pick and place for transferring anode plates and anode plates with a pleating part having a function of pleating the separator vertically.

CONSTITUTION: Anode plates and anode plates 10, 11 are positioned by reciprocation of a slide unit 8 in front of a pleating part which has a function of pleating a separator 12 vertically using a loosening preventing arm 3 having a pin 4 which can be put in and out and a separator pulldown block 1 after the cathode plates 10 and anode plates 11 are put on the slide unit 8. The anode plates and cathode plates 10, 11 are alternately transferred and layered repeatedly using a pick and place 9, and the separator 12 is cut when a predetermined number of the plates are layered.
