The magnetic encoder includes: a rotor with a magnet; a plurality of magnetic detection elements arranged at positions for detecting the magnet; and an output part that outputs detection signals detected by the magnetic detection elements selected sequentially based on a sequence pattern fixed in advance among the plurality of magnetic detection elements, to a synthetic part for synthesizing a signal of a first phase and a signal of a second phase corresponding to rotation positions of the rotor, respectively, based on the plurality of detection signals detected by the plurality of magnetic detection elements. The output part outputs the detection signals detected by the magnetic detection elements selected sequentially based on the sequence pattern fixed so that a phase difference between the signal of the first phase and the signal of the second phase is small, when the synthetic part synthesizes the signal of the first phase and the signal of the second phase, respectively, based on the plurality of detection signals.
