Abstract:
To provide a medium material for barrel polishing, wherein almost no part of the medium material for barrel polishing remains on the member to be barrel-polished and thus the washing after the barrel polishing can be simplified.
A raw material based on an Fe-based metal powder is powder-compacted into a cylindrical shape. The powder-compacted material is sintered, followed by being carburized and then quenched, to thereby form the medium material 1 for barrel polishing made of Fe-based sintered metal. Using the medium material 1 for barrel polishing, wet centrifugal barrel polishing is applied also to a sliding member made of the Fe-based sintered metal.
