Abstract:
PURPOSE: To shorten a time required for spot facing and also reduce the number of tools, etc., to be used by forming multiple holes closely to each other at specified positions in the surrounding area including a recess and collectively spot-facing the specified positions including these holes.
CONSTITUTION: A lightweight aluminum alloy is cast to form a cylinder block in which a recess 42 is formed at its thermo-case mounting position 41 with annular cross-section. Next, a screw hole 43 and a straight hole 44 are formed closely to each other at specified positions in the surrounding area including the recess 42. Then the entire surface 46 including these holes 43 and 44 is spot-faced 47 using a cutter 45 with the recess 42 as its center. Thus a thermo- case mounting section 28 excellent in smoothness can be formed at a specified position of the cylinder block.
