Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a granulated article that gives a friction material excellent in mechanical strengths and can be produced in a short-time mixing and granulating step without causing such problems as dust generation or sticking to the wall surface of a mold, by causing nuclear particles each having multiple projections projecting radially or in many directions to hold a powdery raw material of a friction material together with a binder. SOLUTION: A nuclear particle 1 having multiple projections projecting radially or in many directions, as the center, is caused to hold a powdery raw material 2, such as a friction modifier and a filler, for a friction material together with a binder. The nuclear particle is produced e.g. by using a process for producing a star polymer, one of a branch model polymer. An arom. polyamide is an example of a suitable material of the particle 1. The powdery raw material includes a mixture of friction particles such as graphite, barium sulfate, calcium carbonate, and a rubber dust and a binder such as a phenol resin.
