PURPOSE: To improve resolution, image density, gradation characteristic, cleanability, blocking resistance, and electrostatic charge stability by adding a dispersion of a coloring agent and/or magnetic powder to an emulsion polymn. liquid contg. polymer particles then flocculating thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The emulsion polymn. liquid contg. the polymer particles is produced by emulsion polymn. of polymerizable monomers and is then mixed with the dispersion prepd. by dispersing the coloring agent and/or magnetic powder into water; thereafter, the particles in the resultant liquid mixture are flocculated. The emulsion polymn. is particularly preferably executed at 50 to 80°C and is preferably progressed until the polymn. rate particularly attains ≥99.9wt.%. The characteristics, more particularly preservable stability of the toner tend to be deteriorated if the polymn. rate is low and the residual monomers increase. The polymer produced by the emulsion polymn. is preferably so adjusted that the weight average mol. wt. thereof attains ≥50,000. The cleanability and blocking resistance tend to be degraded if the weight average mol. wt. is too small.
